Biography RYDEMSPLURT
Rydemsplurt
(Rydemflirt, Riddimflirt), started out in 1989 as a reggae/ragga
mc on ROOTS OPERATOR SOUND (establ. 1977), has then done several
recordings with reggae, soul and happy-hardcore/jungle artists
and produced some of his own. Did a demo on a jungle riddim
in '92 but did not pay too much attention to it. Worked with
the RAGGA TWINS on a gig of theirs in 1993. From then on, his
interest in jungle/drum&bass increased. That same year the swiss
tv station realized a report including artists like GANGLORDS,
SNOW, SPEEDYMAN&YASTA plus RIDDIMFLIRT.
In
1994 he joined also the DEX SMASHER POSSE which was one of the
first jungle outfits for Switzerland. Until more mcs surfaced
he was the only mc for jungle in his area and town (as most
people actually did'nt knew what it was about), always catching
up with new music as it happened before it growed commercially
successful. Did also some hip-hop recordings f.e. with a crew
called MAMA NATUA. Played Italy, Austria, Germany and everywhere
[literally] in Switzerland. In Jamaica 1993, some dubs recorded.
Act for Reggae-Sunsplash Italy in 1995.
Since
1994 he mcs for the likes of DJ EVOL, LED TAMPI, DJ S-S, RAP,
MICKEY FINN, several german DJs, KROME&TIME, DJ TWILIGHT, DJ
BALEY, BAD COMPANY, STORM, HIDDEN AGENDA, MINUS8, VIOLA, ED
RUSH, FINE STYLE, METROPOLITAN BASS SCIENTISTS (a Birmingham/Zurich
Producer/DJ outfit), WILDCHILD, MAD B., DU LAIT, TENSIONSTATE
KRU, MARKY&PATIFE, KLUTE, DAMAGE, REMARC, ANDY C, SHIMON, AKA,
DREADY, MOVING FUSION, DJ FADER and many others. In 1998 a record
release party of Rydemsplurt had NINJA MAN and SKARRA MUCCI
as special guests on stage. Has most definitly helped building
up the scene actively and stands nowadays as the original jungle
mc for Switzerland.
He
has linked up with the TENSIONSTATE KRU in 1998, became a member
in 1999 and is now one of the most called for artists at the
organization. He has recently linked up with DJ JORDANA (U.S.)
and as talks are now, a european date or tour is planned for
end of this year or beginning of next year.
In 2000, after taking some sort of a break (still mcing on wknds)
and working 4-5 years in the private economy to gain experience
in proper project management (which is the main lack within
musicians), MC Rydemsplurt is working on a new project/group
named IMPARTIAL KEEPERS[tm] (which he designed as his vision
from scratch, bringing all the people together, management tasks,
etc.) with a rasta singer from Jamaica and a rapper from Haiti.
Involved there are swiss/italian dub/reggae musicians. A jungle
mix for the first song is on schedule now, but the reggae pre-production
must be finished first.
Apart
from that he will also probably be instrumental in helping to
promote a SOS-childrenvillage effort/project (incl. Fabienne
Marquard (CH), Shaggy (JA/U.S.) and Shaggie Williams (FL, U.S.))
in Switzerland. 2003: Rydemsplurt's just recorded a dub plate
for swiss hip hop DJ MALIK (playaz club) which is generally
more hardcore this time around since that suits this particular
DJ's style.
2004:
Rydemsplurt's back from England where he in January has recorded
a killer dancehall tune with DADDY FREDDY, SPYDA DON, RYDEMSPLURT,
BOMMA, BILLY RUCKUS appearing on a hectic, ruff vibe called
the JIHAD riddim. Other artists will now voice this riddim composed
by BANKRUP (Dubversive Sound System). We are in negotiation
with some of the top JA and UK names in dancehall. It will then
be shopped to the companies for a deal. He's - at the same time
- busy co-producing and voicing a dnb album with one of the
top US dnb producer/composer/musicians. After being severely
underrated in Switzerland (he's quit his booking agency after
earlier telling them not to book any more gigs for him in Switzerland
as he's not feeling the scene there), surprisingly he's well
received internationally with good reviews for his sound links
in places like Toronto and Seattle, Washington, L.A., New York,
Pittsburgh... etc... UK: South End, Essex, Croydon London, Nottingham,
Cardiff...etc., Sweden: Stockholm.. Thailand: Nonthaburi, Krung
thep... China: Shandong...
He's
also well busy managing top rap act DREAD EVENT. The management
contract with these artists is not even running a year now and
- as it seems now - a deal will soon be negotiated. This being
a direct result of Rydemsplurt's strong determination.
Just
not getting bitter by the lack of support, it proves again that
good music, can - if believed in - win over hype.

Quotes:::
'I
recognize talent when I hear it.' (JORDANA - US dnb pioneer
of 1.8.7 greatness, 2003)
'You're an amazing MC.' (TALVIN SINGH - one of UK asian
music's principal performers, 2003)
Q: 'What do you think about the MC scene overseas?'
A: 'Some of them are good. There's a few from Canada that
have got potential. Their not really rollers, more on a host,
GQ kind of flex. There's a guy I met in Switzerland called Rydemsplurt
he's been into the Ragga for years and has a good d&b Ragga
flow, but I think it's hard for MCs to make an impact over here;
even our MCs can't really do it.' (MC EKSMAN - 3 times breakthrough
MC at the ACCELERATED CULTURE Awards, best newcomer at DRUM
and BASS ARENA Awards and most talked about dnb MC in 2002/2003.

2003)
